Marcel Gingras

9946 Marcel Gingras graduated from CMR in 1974. He served in Petawawa and Ottawa before leaving the Armed Forces in 1978. Following his departure from the Armed Forces, he moved to Montreal and he completed his actuarial exams and became a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of the Actuaries in 1982.

During his career, Marcel worked both with insurances companies and benefits consulting firms. He worked in Montreal from 1978 to 1986 and moved to Toronto with Sun Life Financial in 1986. After leaving Sun Life in 1988, he returned in 1993 where he occupied several positions at the Vice President level in charge of various business units.  He was transferred to the UK in 1998 where he became General Manager for Sun Life UK for several months. Upon his return to Canada, he was appointed Head of the Canadian Operations, an organization with approximately 5000 people. He left Sun Life Financial in 2002 where he held the position President of Sun Life Canada.

For the last 2 years, he has operated his management consulting firm, Marcel Gingras  Consulting Services Inc which provides strategic and organizational services to customers in the financial sector and other sectors of activity. In 2005, he published a book ‘Managerially Speaking – A Common Sense Approach to Business Leadership’, a book focused on leadership and management, and which is based on his experience acquired both in the Armed Forces and in the private sector.
