Issue 019/2005

The founders of the highly successful Toronto Branch Golf Tournament, which is now in its sixteenth year, have taken on the task of organizing a Fall Reunion Golf Classic event tied to Alumni Weekend.  Hopefully over time this will become a major attraction for the returning 5 year Reunion Classes.  Class entry teams organized by a Golf Captain, will compete for low gross team, long drive and closest to the pin prizes using a four-ball scramble format.  Mixed gender teams prizes will also be included. This inaugural tournament will be a “friendraiser” for the Royal Military College Club of Canada Foundation and all proceeds above cost will be donated to the Foundation for their operating fund.  The Foundation will provide trophy prizes to the winning Class Reunion teams.

Ex-Cadets and Alumni interested in doing some business networking within this venue are welcome to sponsor a hole or donate prizes which will be raffled off at the post game reception at the conclusion of golf.  The Cadet Wing will be invited to participate and the event will be included in the annual Cadet vs. Ex-Cadet sports competition program held each Alumni Weekend.  Winning teams will be announced on the parade square on Sunday morning.

Although this event is geared to the returning Reunion Classes, all interested Ex-Cadets/Alumni and guests are welcome and are encouraged to get a team together or come as an individual participant.  Why not attend the Legacy Dinner the night before, stay overnight at one of the Club’s accommodation partners listed on the Club website and play a round of golf with friends and colleagues.  The overall event winning team will be recognized with a meaningful prize, however, trophies only go to Reunion Class teams.  Player registration is via Bill Simmons (see below).

Tournament organizers are looking for a “couple of good men/women running a company” to sponsor the lunch and/or post game reception.  Interested parties should contact Jim Simpson, Event Chair directly (see below) to discuss this opportunity.  Ditto for those interested in sponsoring a hole at the tournament.
