RMC Chaplain Invested as a Knight Templar

Padre (Major) Eric Reynolds, the senior chaplain at the Royal Military College of Canada, was formally invested into the Sovereign Military Order of the Temple of Jerusalem (SMOTJ) on October 1, 2005 at a colourful ceremony conducted at Saint James Anglican Cathedral in Toronto.

Padre Reynolds was posted to RMC this past summer after having spent two years as the Chief Instructor of the Canadian Forces Chaplain School and Centre in CFB Borden.

He is an Anglican priest from the diocese of Montreal and has been a military chaplain since 1985.

Le 3  septembre dernier avait lieu l'arrivée des 1ière année au CMR. Cette occasion a permit à plusieurs parents du Québec de renouveler les liens établis entre eux au cours d'activités qui eurent lieu lors du séjour de leur fils/fille au Campus Saint-Jean  au sein de l'Escadron Richelieu. En fait, plusieurs de ces parents se retrouvent membre d'une même famille, leur fils/filles ayant créé des liens très étroits avec un/une autre Élof.

Les parents faisant partis du programme de support aux parent et amis (PSPA) avaient reçu préalablement l'information pertinente à cette activité par  13036 Gilles Sarrazin et 12944 André Durand, deux anciens impliqués dans l'établissement du PSPA au Québec.  Les parents ont été fort impressionnés par la qualité de l'accueil au CMR. Ce dernier a débuté par les enseignes de "bienvenu" sur les diverses axes routiers suivi par le café/jus et beignes au Pavillon des sports, la marche sous L'Arche, l'adresse du Cmdt du CMR, BGen Lacroix et finalement le goûter  (Merci au Club des CMR) au Mess des Élèves-officiers.

J'ai été personnellement fort impressionné par l'adresse du Bgen Lacroix. La pertinence de ses propos et son invitation aux parents à ne pas hésiter à échanger avec les autorités du CMR sur les méthodes d'entraînement,  confirme que nous faisons parti d'une grande famille et donne le goût de s'impliquer.

La prochaine activité permettant aux parents de se retrouver sera forte en émotion, étant la course à obstacle. A suivre…

I know I am a pest, but I feel I have to apologise for not attending this year.  The trophy for the longest voyage to ex-cadet weekend is back with Mikola and someone closer can have the honour this year.  I have dad duties and a demanding wife. http://intergon.net/lauren.jpg (my daughter if you are interested)

After one week in my hand, my advance copy book sales are "booming" in Australia.  I have been selling as a corporate executive mentor text to well known corporation.  I sold one to Shell - Brunei - a former member of 2nd Field Engineer Regiment (Toronto) works there.

Pete Dawe has copies of my book (THE SUSTAINABLE WAY) for sale.  $18 ($2 off the retail price) to ex-Cadets, plus $5 of the sale goes to ex-Cadet Club.  Postage to Kingston has eroded any profit.  Just get the book, read it and pass it on.  The book needs to be read to solve the problems of the western world.  One day you will want one as a collector item and I will sell you another. http://intergon.net/tsw

I just proposed an ex-Cadet to the Naval and Military Club.  Dave spent 20+ years in the Royal Canadian Armour Corps and almost 20 years in the Royal Australian Armour Corps.  A few of us get together from time to time.  No sign of Dixon for years.  In 1995, we both worked for the same company - Rob in Melbourne and I in Hong Kong.  If anyone knows of his contact details please let me know.

We have been checking out the Class Websites.  There are a number of very nice ones, which appear to be kept up-to-date pretty regularly.  One such site, which has caught our eye, is the new one from the Class of 1995, which may be found at http://classof1995.rmcclub.ca/

Friendly reminder, a lot of folks have still not paid their 2005 Club membership dues.  Please be nice and do so very soon.  Memberships dues are good for 12 months, therefore, those subscribing now will be good until the end of October 2006.  Also, there are a number of very friendly ways of taking out a Life Membership.  Contact us at Panet House or check the Club Website www.rmcclub.ca for more details.

The RMC Club can only be relevant with a vibrant membership in good standing.

The eVERITAS electronic Newsletter reaches over 5,000 readers . It is a service provided by the RMC Club for Members in good standing with current addresses in the data base.  It is designed to provide timely information on current events at RMC and to keep Members "connected".  Occasionally, it will be distributed to non-members to entice them to join or renew their membership.  Membership information is available at www.rmcclub.ca

Newsworthy articles from national or local papers that may not have been available to the majority of our readers may be reproduced in e-VERITAS.  We will also publish articles in either official language as submitted by Cadets and Staff, on "current life" at RMC.  Other short “human interest stories" about Cadets, Ex-Cadets, Alumni and current and former Staff at the College will appear from time-to-time.  Readers of e-VERITAS are encouraged to submit articles in either official language to william.oliver@rmc.ca.  In particular, up-to-date “Where are they now?” articles on Ex-Cadets, Alumni and current and former Staff would be most welcome.

eVERITAS is intended as a supplement and not a replacement of Veritas, the highly popular magazine of the RMC Club printed and distributed three times a year to Members by mail.

e-VERITAS est un supplément et NON une substitution pour VERITAS la revue populaire du Club des CMR imprimée et distribuée aux membres en règle, par la poste, trois fois par année.
