2399 Rear-Admiral William Moss Landymore

Rear- Admiral Landymore entered RMC in 1934, where he took naval training for two summers and transferred to the Royal Canadian Navy.  His cadet training was in HMS Frobisher and he was a midshipman in the East Indies in HMS Emerald.  On completion of his S/Lt's courses, he joined HMS Windsor in 1939.  He was on board his first Canadian ship, HMCS Fraser, when she was involved in a terrible collision off France.  He returned to England in 1942 to specialize in gunnery and was at sea again in action in the cruiser HMS Belfast.  In 1944, he joined HMCS Uganda as Gunnery Officer and served on board until she was withdrawn from the war.  Admiral Landymore will always be remembered for his battle "with the government of the day" which was intent on and succeeded in integrating our three Services
